The Project

In September 2011, Contendo Arte transformed three strategically positioned containers in Goiânia—Parque Vaca Brava (T-3 and T-10), Parque Flamboyant, and Avenida Goiás/Avenida Anhanguera—into a dynamic art project. Displaying graffiti on exteriors and repurposed materials inside transformed into art works, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between art institutions and the community, emphasizing sustainability.

Thirty-five Brazilian artists contributed to the vibrant urban gallery, with seven artists creating murals on the container exteriors. Twenty-four students from the Arts class at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) facilitated workshops and tours, ensuring an interactive and educational experience.

Contendo Arte, extending beyond container boundaries, attracted thousands of visitors, including schools. The project aimed to break the impossibility of access to art, felt by many, and to inspire a new generation by promoting creativity and sustainability. It stands as a testament to art’s transformative power, fostering dialogue and inclusivity in an immersive and accessible way
